Clearspring Organic Japanese Dried Shiitake Mushrooms

Clearspring Organic Japanese Dried Shiitake Mushrooms have a subtle woody flavour, and this variety used is characterised by large, well-developed caps, which makes them easy to reconstitute and use in everyday cooking.

The word Shiitake means (shii - oak tree, take - mushroom) and they have a long history of use.

For a flavourful Japanese Dashi broth, boil a few mushrooms and their soaking water with a small strip of Clearspring Kombu sea vegetable for 15 minutes.

Use as a base for miso soup or season to taste with soya sauce.

Directions

To prepare, soak for 30 minutes in warm water, remove any hard stems, slice if desired and cook with grains or in stir-fries and soups.
